Inspection

QSorter® Horizon provides unprecedented insights into kernel composition. It leverages a unique combination of near-infrared spectroscopy, machine vision and 2D imaging to analyze the biochemical properties of every single kernel in a batch. The device also quickly identifies unwanted materials such as foreign grains. In addition to analyzing biochemical properties, QSorter® Horizon looks at physical characteristics such as color and shape.

Sorting

The sorting mechanism of QSorter® Horizon automatically achieves the finest selection of seeds, grains or beans. In one hour, it processes several hundred kilograms into up to five classes. While being exceptionally fast, the device uses non-invasive and non-destructive methods to ensure the integrity of commodities.

How QSorter® Horizon Is Different

Currently available sorting devices on the market typically perform poorly in terms of accuracy. In order to sort kernels they analyze physical parameters such as color and shape. Although this is enough to sort out some of the foreign materials that commonly make it to the sack, the real difference between premium and mass quality lies on another level of sorting capabilities. Variations in color and shape are often so subtle that even the sharpest human eye and the most advanced screening technology overlook them. This is especially true e.g. when it comes to sorting immature coffee beans. Unlike other sorters, QSorter® Horizon analyzes biochemical properties of each kernel such as moisture, protein, caffeine, gluten, sugar and other contents. When paired with the analysis of physical qualities, this feature makes our device the industry’s most advanced and efficient solution in sorting.
